Coby LEDTV1935 19-Inch LED HDTV (Black) ReviewI bought one of these from "The Wiz" (not Amazon), but I'm reviewing it here because The Wiz no longer carries this model.
For a 19" 720p LED screen, I thought the picture was really lacking (I did get my eyes checked at about the same time, and it was not my eyes that's the problem!). Right from the start, the sound was "tinny", no matter how many adjustments I made to the Setup. So, I bought a set of external speakers with a woofer, and the sound was better. Then, after about six months, the "audio-out" (that the speakers were plugged into) stopped working. I checked the speakers on a different piece of equipment, and the speakers were fine; so, the problem is the TV unit. Of course, it's beyond the labor warranty (only 90 days), and only the parts warranty (one year) applies now; so, we'll see how much they will cover to fix this. In any case, they charge $25 for return shipping on ANY warranty work. That sucks! I would NOT recommend this product.Coby LEDTV1935 19-Inch LED HDTV (Black) Overview

Xtreamer SIDEWINDER Media Player- Passively Cooled & 7.1 HD Audio (New Model) ReviewI have owned this unit for well over 6 months. I wanted to wait and be patient before I reviewed it, hoping that promises and the long awaited 3.0 firmware upgrade would finally happen, well my patience is now exhausted. I didn't just invest in one Xtreamer, myself and friends bought three units as it supported the TV Live feature, streaming all the British TV and news networks, which was a major selling point to us. Within a few weeks of ownership these features disappeared, along with most of the channels featured in the 'live TV' feed.
I also was keen on their video jukebox which I waited months for, again to be disappointed. It took hours for me to add fan art to each title (I have a vast library). Only for it all to disappear a few weeks later and regardless of whether I set this up on the Computer interface or the machine itself, it would not successfully scrape my media files.
As there is no actual 'support' site, just the forum and chat room, it is virtually impossible to get answers. I have raised the above topics and more, along with many others in their forum, but no credible answers to date.
I should point out that just about everything on the Xtreamer interface has been created by third parties, ie dedicated owners who spend hours of their time, trying to do, what Xtreamer themselves should have done when they launched this thing. What makes it worse is that the actual Xtreamer website uses the various applications that it's users have created to sell their machine!! This creates an unfair 'sellable' image of a machine that is actually continually in beta testing.
To close, my biggest annoyance is the remote, unless you are standing three feet or less from the Xtreamer, it won't work. I was told this was a known problem and to use a Logitech or some other type of knowing remote. I have a Logitech and yes, it solved it. But if they know there's an issue, they should fix it. I noticed they are even selling Logitech remotes from their website now....so they themselves are basically admitting their remote doesn't work.
One reason I am finally writing this is that I am reading many unjustified negative reviews on Amazon, for example, the Logitech Google TV, while this unresponsive bit of plastic, receives generally good notices. To me this proves that many reviewers here on Amazon are actually affiliated with the actual items they are reviewing. Regardless of which I still value Amazon reviews in general and hope my honest few words will help someone wasting their dollars on empty promises.Xtreamer SIDEWINDER Media Player- Passively Cooled & 7.1 HD Audio (New Model) Overview

2009 Xtreamer Media Player & Network Streamer (OLD MODEL) ReviewThe Xtreamer and the NMT are the 2 best hardware media players out there based on frequent firmware upgrades and manufacturer's participation in the support forums. NMT (Networked Media Tanked) is the technology from Syabas that many many OEM'ers license to make their players. Popcorn Hour, EGreat, Jasmine, QNAP, Istar, Elektron, Suno, Kaifa, SnaZio, Eminent, CMI, etc. all license NMT firmware and hardware to make their players. Popcorn Hour (PCH) is subsidiary company of Syabas so it gets the firmware releases quicker than others. PCH for this reason and its broad user base may be the best NMT device to go for. The other camp is really the Xtreamer. Functionally it's almost the same as the NMT devices except it doesn't have BitTorrent download capability built-in. It has NAS, FTP, HTTP, UPnP, SAMBA. It can stream content from your PC or Mac like any other streaming device including PS3, XBox, etc. It has Internet streams and Internet Radios.
As far as playing all kinds of media types, me-too doesn't cut it. 1080p materials all differ. Wait till you actually try high sample-rated stuff. The true test is something like lossless blu-ray rips. I used to own a Mediagate M2TV. That thing chokes all over the place on full sample-rated 1080p. The Xtreamer used to too. But with the latest firmware 2.0.2, not a problem anymore. That goes to show frequent firmware and manufacturers' dev team support are so important. In 2-3 months I have owned the Xtreamer, there've been 2 major releases. I'm just waiting for their full TrueHD and DTS-HD MA support. The Xtreamer is safe to get.2009 Xtreamer Media Player & Network Streamer (OLD MODEL) Overview

CiragoTV Mini USB Media Player ReviewI just love this device. I also have the Sansa TakeTV that I purchased 2 years ago but I'm giving that away as soon as I find someone to give it to. The CiragoTV Mini is a lot more convenient to use and offers so many features the Sansa doesn't have. With the Sansa you had only the main unit to store video on. Although the dock had a USB port on it, you couldn't plug just any USB storage device into it and play video from there. With the Cirago you have so many storage/media options. Also, it plays not only video but pictures and music as well. It also costs much less than the Sansa. It isn't housed in metal like the Sansa but the build quality is solid.
Performance: This device played everything it said it would play. No glitches at all. Video quality was amazing. My only problem is when I try changing TV types or resolutions it seems to switch to PAL mode. I still need to figure that one out.
Media Support: I only gave it 4 stars for Media Support because it doesn't recognize SDHC cards. Regular SD cards work fine. So if you're thinking of buying a large capacity SDHC card to put video, pictures, or music on, make sure you get one that comes with one of those SDHC readers so you can use the SDHC card through the reader. What's great about the CiragoTV is that you can use any USB storage device - hard drives, flash drives, SD cards, and even card readers that take any of the other memory cards not directly supported on the device.
User Interface: For video playback the remote only has previous and next file buttons. No fast forward or rewind buttons. To ffw or rew the video you need to press an options button then select a button from the on-screen interface. They could've used the left and right buttons since those buttons are not used for anything while playing video. On the other hand, I had a folder with DVD files and while playing around with the device I went into the Files option and when I went into the folder containing the DVD files I found a "Play DVD" option added to the folder. (Its not really there but the device adds that option when it knows the folder contains DVD files.) I clicked that and I was amazed to find the device supported the DVD menus, scene selection, etc. The Next and Prev buttons on the remote now worked with the DVD chapters. Amazing! Now I can copy my DVD collection onto a portable hard drive and have most of my DVD collection with me wherever I go. Parents, I would get this device, put all your kids' DVDs on a hard drive, find a power adapter that plugs into a car lighter socket, then plug the device's AV out into your van's AV input and they'll have enough video to keep them occupied on a cross country road trip! I'll do some research and find a car power supply for this.
Package Contents: The kit includes everything you need (CiragoTV Mini, Manual, power supply, remote with battery, AV cable) but I wish they'd included an HDMI cable since those don't cost much these days. A 3-foot cable would do.
So if you're looking for a solid, portable, versatile media player for home or to take around with you, you can't go wrong with the CiragoTV Mini.CiragoTV Mini USB Media Player OverviewThe CiragoTV Mini is a compact and portable device that bridges the gap between your digital media and your TV. Simply connect your CiragoTV Mini to your TV, plug in a USB storage device or memory card and instantly enjoy your photos, videos and music on your TV from the comfort of your living room. The CiragoTV Mini's compact size and plug and play simplicity allow you to move it easily from room to room, or take it with you when you travel. Bring your digital media to life with the CiragoTV Mini.
