Franklin OEC-570 Compact Oxford English Dictionary with Thesaurus and Spell Correction ReviewI bought five of these electronic dictionaries for my five homeschooled children. Some words we tried to look up weren't in this dictionary. My highschool son just looked up a word today "cachinnate" and it wasn't in there. He had to go to the hardcopy dictionary. I purchased Franklin SCD-1890 for myself. I can't remember it not having any words we needed. We have had both of these dictionaries in our home for at least 4-5 years. I don't like that the Franklin MWD-1490 takes a large watch-type battery. The SCD-1890 takes AAA batteries, which we are more likely to have on hand at home. I currently have four high-school kids now and I find the MWD-1490 inadequate for their needs. It is still a good tool for my 6th grader.For the cost and constant use the $50 plus spent on it was worthwhile.
