Beginning Visual C++ Components ReviewI have not read this book from beginning to end, and I wouldn't recommend it for beginners trying to learn Visual C++, since there are much better books. However, I rated this book 5 stars because of the niche that it fills. This book covers not only the basic Window controls (such as list boxes, combo boxes, etc), but it goes into much more specialized functions. For example, suppose you wanted to create a list box that can have multiple columns, such as a database, and allow the user to click on any box in the grid and type in information. These are the type of design problems the book tackles... it goes beyond the basic "how to implement the control". This is an excellent book on how to "get more" out of Visual C++Beginning Visual C++ Components OverviewUsing the proven Beginning Series step-by-step format to hone readers' skills fast and with confidence, this book covers ActiveX controls, OCXes and MFC extensions and explains when to use each with examples. It concludes with a larger project created using components developed in the book.
