ASUS Skype Videophone Touch SV1TW (Silver Grey) ReviewThis is definitely a huge leap forward from the voice only based standalone skype phones (Linksys and Philips), however, I would definitely give this device 5 stars if:
1. It would have a video out on the back, it already has mic in and headphones input but if you have a bigger monitor you want to connect the output to during conversation to get a bigger picture, there is no way to do this
2. Add bluetooth! So that it's easy to pair a bluetooth headset to this unit
3. What's up with the battery that lasts 20 minutes? I mean common ASAS, you guys built me the 1005HE that holds for like 9.5 hours what is this 20 minute battery?
4. Put at least 1.3 megapixel camera
Other than above 4 items the phone is great, it's robust and well made, the top tilts to accommodate people of different height or seating position. Sound quality is definitely better than in my asus EEE PC. Easy to connect to wireless network. Like I said, great start but can be better.

USB Cordless/VoIP Phone Support MSN Yahoo Messenger ReviewBeen using Skype on my Windows 7 (64 bit) laptop quite happily for a few months now. My only concern after those months was being physically 'tied to the computer' to be able to 'use my phone' (Skype is my only telephone service of any kind) So the search for a cordless phone began. This 3J-W1D cordless Skype USB phone fills my needs 100%. The included software installed effortlessly and afterwards a system reboot got Skype and SkypeMate (the phone's software client)in sync and I was immediately able to call people from wherever in my home I desired. I need to clarify an erroneous review here. This phone DOES come with a battery that is shipped inside the same packing sleeve the phone comes in but not obviously so. Hence I suspect the other reviewer probably threw his battery out with the rest of the packaging. Anyway if you look closely it is impossible NOT to see the battery tucked in it's own little cardboard 'doghouse' formed within the phone's own cardboard packing sleeve. The batery is white and only about the size of 2 USA first class postage stamps placed side-by-side. It thickness is about a 1/4" at the moct. The attached wiring (which one needs to plug into the phone) is so very tiny. My fat 59 yr old fingers were able to do it. I suggest you enlist the help of a child to avoid stress and swear words! Anyway the phone works fine it duplicates the contacts list from your pc-based Skype program. I have yet to test the advertised 160 ft range but since it is adequate for me at home (about 50 ft max)I am pleased. Maybe some sunny morning (or starry night) I'll stroll out onto the veranda and call someone. BTW here is a link to the owner's manual (pdf) should you like to see that pre-sale. [...]The phone is entirely powered from any available USB port. My battery was partially charged when I installed it and I was able to make some calls to test it for any issues. Once I placed it on the base (which includes a nice sounding speaker phone)it indicated it was charging for abour 3 hours (flashing led) then finally fully charged (steady led). The handset display is black and white with a very nice 'blue glow' background lighting. I find it easily readable and quite attractive too. One pleasant surprise is the feel of the phone in your hand. It is about 3/4 scale size of a 'normal' landline cordless phone but the tactile response (what it feels like to the touch) is a smooth yet gently 'grippy' somewhat soft rubber-like texture. It feels great and is not likely to slip out of your hands easily.
My only complaint is i have yet to see how to change the 24 hr format time to 12 hr am/pm format. It seems to mimick the installed Skype pc software which I don't think has an option or a Skype 'Extra' for this selection. I sent an email to the manufacturer in Gilbert,AZ about this but so far no replie. (How many times have we read similar words ..eh?) Here is the homepage for this phone's manufacturer [...] Lastly while on it's base the time is easily readable in about 3/4" high bold black letters and beneath that in smaller text it says "Let's Skype" so it makes for a handy clock too depending where you place it and that is what led me to wanting to set it from 24 hr format to 12 hr am/pm. Right now it is 1:04 pm but my Skype phone says it is 13:04 and makes me feel I'm back in the Army again.
I would HIGHLY recommend anyone looking for a realtively inexpensive Skype-based cordless USB-powered phone to try this one out. Bought mine from Amazon through the $2.99 overnight shipping Amazon Prime account (30 day free trial is well worth it..hehe!)

IPEVO S0-20 WiFi Phone for Skype ReviewI have been using the Ipevo So-20 Skypephone for over a week now (mine came directly from Taiwan) and I am amazed at how well it works.
Previously I had tried and returned both the Belkin and Netgear Wi-Fi phones because they were full of bugs, the battery life was ridiculous and call quality inferior to Skype calls from a PC. I eventually settled for the now discontinued Linksys CIT-400 and I am quite satisfied with it except that battery life is also poor and it requires an interface (access point)to be connected to your modem/router.
The Ipevo SO-20 is a totally autonomous Wi-Fi Skypephone, all you need is a wireless network (B or G). Compared to its predecessors the Ipevo has the following advantages:
-Li-ion battery: the SO-20 can last up to 3 days off the charger on stand-by, but count on a couple of days between charges in normal use.
-Wi-Fi connection manager: the Ipevo allows you to manage your wireless access by storing favorite networks and their access keys. You can also decide whether it can connect to non-saved networks or only to preferred ones. It supports WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption (I just think you cannot use it when you have to log-in on a network through a web page, but check the Skype site, I think they have a flat-rate package to access all Boingo hot-spots worldwide).
Wireless range is pretty decent, I never went below 3 bars (out of 5) inside my home.
-Very modern and clean design and the feel is not that of cheap plastic. The screen is very legible, the keypad is backlit, you can adjust the volume with 2 dedicated keys on the side, like on a regular cell phone and there is a headset jack. You can charge the Ipevo either directly from the charger via a mini-USB connection (handy if you need to use it while charging), or by dropping it on the supplied cradle.
Overall the Ipevo SO-20 is an amazing Wi-Fi Skypephone and I highly recommend it.IPEVO S0-20 WiFi Phone for Skype Overview

USB 2.4ghz 50 Meters Wirefree Usb Cordless Skype Phone ReviewThis is an *AWESOME* phone! I've had this unit since August 2007, and has been working eversince with no issues! The battery life is exceptional with talk time averaging about 5-6 hours depending on how often i've used it. The past reviewers of this product apparently, did not know how to program it properly. And i do agree, however, that the instructions are poorly written. But i did do a little more research on Skype and you'll need to install the current Skypemate firmware to make the unit fully operational as advertised.
