Philips Prestigo SRU6006/27 Universal 6-In-1 Remote Control ReviewWhen I opened the box I found the Remote, a quick start guide and a USB cord. I didn't find any batteries (it needs 3 AA) or a real manual. You can't set up the remote without a computer and an internet connection.
The first thing you need to do is download and install a program. Then you need to insert the batteries and connect the USB. You type in the brand name of the device then select the device type and use the original remote to try to turn off the universal remote, and Ding! it is set up. You don't have to try typing in different codes to see if it works. Set up couldn't be easier. It even handles weirder devices like my laser disc player, HDD/DVD recorder or video games.
The buttons all work right at the start. However, the problem is finding which button does what. You will eventually memorize them. It's easy enough to program a button to do what you want by using the "Repair Button" function, and shoot the original remote's button at the plugged in Prestigo. But the Prestigo also has 4 buttons by the LCD that can cover all the non-basic buttons, and you have up to 8 pages of 4 buttons. I couldn't find a way to add a new button here, and this is where a manual would come in handy. These 4 buttons sometimes require you to select the device for no reason, even when doing 2 things in a row with the same device.
The install program and web page combine to provide videos to answer your questions. I don't know about you, but I always found paging through a book to find information faster than browsing & viewing videos. This seems inefficient, and I gave up before I found my answer on how to add a menu button. I just programmed a random key (they have 4 colored keys that seem to be for the purpose of add a weird feature).
For the TL;DR crowd:
Pros-
Super easy to set up
Handles almost any device
Buttons are programmed correctly, with no "trial & error" fine tuning
Extra buttons on remote makes customizing fun
LCD Menu
Cons-
Batteries not included
No manual, only quick start guide and web page/videos
Remote needs reassurance you haven't changed devices
While the Prestigo is a little confusing & needy, like some people I know, it is over all a very good remote.Philips Prestigo SRU6006/27 Universal 6-In-1 Remote Control OverviewPhilips Prestigo Universal Remote Control up to 6 Devices in 1 via the LCD Screen SRU6006/27

Philips SHP2500/37 Full Size Headphone with Volume Control ReviewI owned/used/abused the previous model for more than 6 years and man did it take a beating. It worked flawlessly until the little volume controller broke open and one of the wires broke off. I decided not to bother trying to fix it so i found this set and purchased it. Aside from looking cool and good price, they looked even sturdier than the last model headphones (including the volume controller). They fit comfortably, cover your ears completely and are not too tight. Good, full, clean sound (better if you can tweak it), and very loud. I Use them primarily for games, as you can hear the smallest of sounds. Good for watching TV privately if you really need to (although the cord gets in the way). Owned them for 1-1/2 years so far and not a scratch. For the price its a must have.Philips SHP2500/37 Full Size Headphone with Volume Control Overview
